not popular enough compared to Korean Manhwas. But we got Raeliana coming in the spring. which is a really good Korean romance reincarnation manhwa.

The otome genre/ otome game isekai thing as well is a really popular trope as well. The only thing is that they're starting to make more animes adaptions geared towards females now since those manhwas have become so popular whereas before the genres were either neutral or more focused towards guys. The Reason Why Raeliana Ended Up At The Dukes House is another otome manhwa that got an anime adaption this year :)

Yeah. Truth be told those Villainess Manhwas became all the rage after big shoujo titles and otome game titles became more bland for several years now, it's just that ONLY NOW we see the anime industry picking up on them. I personally think Villainess isekai is the new age of 'shoujo fever' after big hits of the past like Maid Sama and Ouran HS Host Club, but they're just not animated. It's about time the female protagonist category gets new stories that go into casual and mainstream. That said, we still have a few gems in the shoujo manga category, but for some reason they're not getting animated too... which is what contributed to the rise of korean villainess manhwas as well.

Still waiting for them to adapt the one where the villainess has a holy guardian tiger.

the villainess trope is an entire genre in and of itself, and has been a popular genre for years now (there's hasn't been an anime adaptation before until recent years). there are so many mangas and manhwas that follow some kind of villainous plotline (whether it be isekai or reincarnation). it just happens that katarina made it to the screens first.

but i do recommend checking out mangas/manhwas!! some of them are based on web/light novels :D

It's more of stuff happening in another place rather than earth. If what you said was true then there wouldn't be a whole genre for it. Like how stuff in school happens or how there's always a childhood friend or tournament stuff

This show is beyond meta in story telling. There's at least 2 different layers in the show. 3 if you consider the viewers who scream at the screen at how the otome game fan girl is beyond clueless to the guy's feeling.

The stories are actually going to directly connect later on. I never finished the web novel but I do vaguely remember some foreshadowing regarding this particular copy/version of the game and how they are able to change it.

The one and only Soon d'Rey (or tsun de rais) villainess is finally here.
This one is gonna be good. I read the manga and it was so much fun. Lieselotte is just amazing, amusing, and adorable.

And I really like the idea that the two can telepathically communicate with a person in the fantasy world. That's something I've not seen until I've read this story.
So yeah guys, I recommend this one.
I gotta say, that dramatic violin and piano when Lieselotte was entering the scene was so good. Just spot on.
